I’m here again, virtually of course. The last time I painted this scene I used a cubist view of the yachts around the bay of Toulon on the Cote d’Azur. This time I’ve come back with an impressionist style. This was the last place we visited in France before the first lockdown in 2020 and has been the inspiration for several paintings over the last 18 months. After a series of deep, reflective works I’m happy to be back here again.
There are 6 yachts in the painting with the furthest just light impressions on the far right of the horizon. As I’ve replicated in another painting this year, the cloud formation is like a wave breaking in the sky. I didn’t consciously start that but makes the scene more interesting. I wonder if it will appear again?
